Talofa lava. My name is Laisa Peleseuma, Deputy Principal.
I have been teaching at Petone Central School since 1996 for over 20 years and have taught at every level, from New Entrant up to Year 8.
This year I am teaching in Te Roopu Kauri, a Year 3,4 and 5 class.
I see teaching as involving a reciprocal relationship between teachers and students.
I believe that it is my responsibility as a teacher to provide students with an environment where positive self-esteem is key to successful learning and students experience success. I also believe that students can learn when they are accepted for who and where they are at in their educational journey.
Every child deserves to know they are valued as unique, capable human beings. When they share an atmosphere of respect and belonging, they will take the risks for their academic and personal growth. Embracing diverse ideas and perspectives will help create such an atmosphere.
