House System:
Petone Central School has three houses, each made up of vertical groupings of students across all year levels. The three houses are named after New Zealand native birds, Kea, Ruru, and Weka.
Kea Ruru Weka
The purpose of our house system is to:
- provide and opportunity for students from all year levels to interact
- build new friendships
- encourage older students to mentor and care for younger students
- build school spirit
- create a sense of identity and belonging
- promote participation and competition
- provide opportunities for student leadership and student voice
- provide opportunity to develop and refine school values
